Joseph Olson D.B.A. Rusty Olson's--Soil and Percolation Testing Joseph J. Olson--MPCA License# 810 11481 Riverview Rd. NE, Hanover, MN 55341 (763)498-8779 Fax (763) 498-8290Revised June 29, 2020 Michael & Theresa Eastman
4520 West Branch Road
Orono, Hennepin County
This on-site Sewage Treatment System is designed for a Type Ill four-bedroom home in accordance with the
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Chapter 7080 and local ordinances.
The system is a type III because fill soils and O inches to the periodically saturated soils in the original soils. This
is the only place on the lot that this designer has reasonable assurance that the system will function. This is not a
guarantee that the system will function but is the only place on the lot that this designer can find.
I talked to the City inspector Roger Peitso. Our conclusion was to call the periodically saturated soils at
elevation 92.0. The existing fill soils under the absorption area are to be removed to the elevation of92.0. The fill
soils must be below their plastic limit before they are removed. The bottom of the proposed rock bed must be
elevated with clean sand to a_n elevation of 95.0 or three feet of sand under the rock bed.
This system must be time dosed.
Due to the periodically saturated soils, a pressurized mound system with 6 inches of rock will need to be installed to
treat the septic effluent. The bottom of the treatment area must be located at least 3' above the saturated soils. This
system is designed with 6 inches of rock.
The City may require an operating permit or monitoring plan to be in place for a type III system. The city will
set the requirements for the operating permit.
All neighboring wells are greater than I 00 feet from proposed treatment system absorption area.
The existing septic tank must be abandoned. A new 2250-gallon split septic tank must be installed. The supply line
from the septic tank to the lift station must be insulated under the driveway.
Use 7/32-inch perforations on the laterals and clean outs on the end of the laterals for maintenance.
A I 000-gallon pumping chamber must be installed to lift the effluent to the treatment area. The power supply and switches must be located outside the manhole and pumping chamber in a weatherproof enclosure. A warning device
must be installed with light and sound devices; this is in case of a pump failure
Nothing other than gray water, (laundry, showers, etc.) Human water and toilet tissue should be disposed of into the
septic tanks. Iron filters cannot go into the septic system. Garbage disposals are not recommended. Additives must not be used they may cause harmful damage to your septic system. It is recommended that you pump the septic tanks
every two years.
Sincerely, 4
JO\soo
