The inspection office for Orono
had requested a footing soils inspection for the garage area according to the builder.
This was probably required since the test on file was from 2000.
(2) We probed with a hand augur and a half-inch smooth rod along the entire length of
the garage interior and exterior footing bottoms. In most situations the probing
reached under the footing and found a soil quite competent for the proposed
structure. The augering with the 1"auger showed the soil to be well-compacted fill
below the footings. This soil also is firm and competent for the proposed
construction.
(3) Although it is not safe to assume that all soil will maintain its integrity(compaction)
Through the winter, this clay did not have excess water that would expand its
Volume and reduce its density.
Submitted by:
Instant Testing Company Date: June 6, 2003
Z2Z `/ e
Daniel J.
