ORONO PARR COMMISSION MEETING <br /> July 10, 1990 <br /> The Meeting was called to order by the new Chairman, Dick Flint. <br /> The following members were present: Alexander Vongries, Lester <br /> Kelley, Philip Bradley, Dick Flint, Susan Wilson, Jim Gilbert, <br /> Lee Erger, and Public Works Director Gerhardson. <br /> CITY COONCIL REPORT <br /> Dick Flint reported that the Council had appointed him <br /> Chairman, and Alexander Vongries, Vice Chairman. He would like <br /> to add to the framework the position of Secretary and asked for <br /> volunteers. Susan Wilson volunteered and Jim Gilbert offered to <br /> help when needed. Les Kelley moved that Susan Wilson be elected <br /> Secretary. It was seconded and passed. <br /> COMMUNITY COOPERATION <br /> Philip Bradley reported that he had spoken with Tom Mich, <br /> Superintendent of Orono Schools , about future athletic <br /> facilities. An umbrella organization will be formed including <br /> the surrounding communities that attend Orono School. Toni <br /> Berglund, the Community Education Coordinator, will oversee the <br /> organization. Jim Gilbert moved we send Tom Mich a letter <br /> expressing the Orono Park Commission's interest in working on <br /> plans for athletic facilities with the school board and other <br /> surrounding communities. It was seconded and passed by the rest <br /> of the Commission. Les Kelley was appointed our primary contact <br /> with this community group. All commission members were <br /> encouraged to attend early meetings. <br /> PARR COI�IIrIISSION PLAN REVISION <br /> (/,,t�.2 c c,� <br /> Alex Vongries expressed his willingness to revise the 1980 <br /> Park Commission plan. He suggested we make a tour of the parks <br /> once more with specific goals in mind. A����- discuss���--�:�:�v�r�-,s <br /> a���.aea Alex Vong�ies_ tnrt�uld ma}c�.`up. �a- ��.i-��x..i� .c.h�ck ;�..a.:&�* A <br /> subcommittee of the Park Commission would tour the Parks and <br /> conduct an evaluation which would be presented to the entire <br /> Commission. Any special opportunities for expansion or problem <br /> areas would be toured by the entire Commission. The subcommittee <br /> will consist of Alex Vongries, Susan Wilson, and John Gerhardson. <br /> Dick Flint will join the subcommittee for the intial tour if <br /> possible. <br />
