John Gerhardson from the <br /> Orono City staff was also present. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINOTES <br /> Minutes from the April 6, 1987 Park Commission meeting were <br /> approved. <br /> MAINTENANCE SDRVEY/PARR TODR <br /> Commissioners visited several Orono parks and identified the <br /> following: <br /> Casco Skating Rink Needs decorative wood sign, needs coniferous <br /> trees, good place to add basketball hoops, possible need for play <br /> equipment. <br /> Casco Circle Park New wood sign looks good, need to study deed <br /> restrictions for possibility of future improvements, could use <br /> flowers and permanent bench, possible site for Surry Gage <br /> involvement. <br /> Navarre Tot Lot/Livingston Tower Park Still needs plantings and <br /> re-seeding. John Gerhardson has not solicited bids for <br /> landscaping yet. He indicated that he will have some prices for <br /> Commissioners to review at next meeting. Also needs decorative <br /> wood sign. <br /> Navarre Pl�round Garbage can needs to be chained to a post. <br /> Play equipment was painted, and sand placed under equipment. <br /> Roberta Lee Antoine Playground/Ice Skating Rink Needs coniferous <br /> trees, mary-go-round was removed, play equipment was painted, sand <br /> was installed under play equipment. <br /> Crystal Bay Playground Part of City property being considered for <br /> new City service center. Play equipment was painted, sand <br /> installed under play equipment. <br /> CITY NURSERY <br /> John Gerhardson informed Commissioners of availability of 1 to 3 <br /> inch caliper ash and maple trees and 4 to 6 foot tall spruce <br /> trees which could be used to enhance City parks and to reduce <br /> potential cost of Livingston Tower Park landscape bids. He also <br /> indicated possibility of the City renting a tree spade from <br /> Hennepin County to transplant these trees. <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN REVIEW <br /> Mariann Kienzler will review the bike/hike trails and planning <br /> park improvements at our next meeing. <br /> LIVINGSTON TOWER PARR SCDLPTDRE <br /> Commissioners reafirmed their desire to commission a small <br /> sculpture for the park.
