John Gerhardson and Mark Bernhardson <br /> were present from the Orono City staff. The following were <br /> absent: Lee Erger, and Mariann Kienzler. <br /> APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> Minutes from the November 1986 Park Commission meeting were <br /> approved. <br /> PARR NAME <br /> The Commission unanimously agree to assign the name <br /> "Livingston Tower Park" for the park land at the intersection <br /> of Livingston and Blaine Avenue, Navarre. <br /> RISR SURVEY <br /> The Commission unanimously agreed to the removal of the <br /> merry-go-round equipment at Antoine Park. <br /> Discussion was held regarding replacement of the merry-go- <br /> round with another piece of play equipment. Discussion W�ii <br /> be continued at next meeting. <br /> John Gerhardson reported that work was started this past <br /> autumn to place impact absorbing amounts of sand under the <br /> existing play equipment throughout the parks. This work will <br /> be resumed and completed in the spring. He also indicated <br /> that all park equipment wi11 undergo regular inspections and <br /> maintenance starting Spring 1987. <br /> PARR LANDSCAPE DESIGN <br /> Bob Kost presented a landscape concept for the newly named <br /> "Livingston Tower Park". The plan W�1i be refined based on <br /> comments from the Commissioners. Kost W� 11 meet with John <br /> Gerhardson to prepare a bidding proposal. The Commission <br /> W�11 consider bids for the proposal from landscapers at the <br /> next meeting. <br /> The park plan incorporates a site for a public sculpture for <br /> garden ornament. Terry Morse volunteered to contact the <br /> Minnesota Art Center regarding the potential for a donation <br /> of a piece of sculpture. <br /> BIICE TRAIL SYSTEM <br /> John Gerhardson is trying to locate old files and information <br /> regarding the bike/hike trail issue, past City Council <br /> resolution and a trail route map. He W� 11 provide <br /> Commissioners with copies of all available materials. <br /> MEETING SCHEDULE <br /> Discussion was he�d regarding a change in the Park Commission <br /> meeting schedule from the first Tuesday of the month to the <br /> first Monday. Les Ke11ey moved and Virginia Sweatt seconded <br /> changing the meetings to the first Monday of the month - <br /> September through Apri1, and the first Tuesday of the month - <br /> May through September. Motion was approved. This change is <br /> intended to make it more convenient for several Commissioners <br /> to attend more regularily. <br /> 1 <br />
