MINUTES OF THE PARR COMMISSION MEETING HELD APRIL 2, 1985. PAGE 1 <br /> ATTENDANCE The Orono Park Commission met on the above <br /> date with the following members present: <br /> Peterson, Stinson, Kelley, Erger, Bradley, <br /> Kienzler and Kost. Secretary Sweatt was ab- <br /> sent. Public Works Coordinator Gerhardson <br /> represented the City staff. <br /> INTRODUCTION OF <br /> NEW MEMBERS The following new members were introduced: <br /> Phil Bradley, Marianne Kienzler and Bob Kost. <br /> STUBBS'S BAY There was discussion concerning a structure on <br /> Stubb's Bay Road that has been donated to the <br /> City. Members were asked to try and come up <br /> with uses for this structure since it does <br /> have historical value. Discussion of places <br /> which would be appropriate for the building <br /> included: should it be moved to the school <br /> campus area? uses as a library? would <br /> Hennepin County be interested? what would the <br /> cost be to move the structure? should it go <br /> to Bederwood Park? Is there funding available <br /> to renovate the structure? Members were asked <br /> to think of different organizations which <br /> might be willing to donate funds. At the next <br /> meeting, the Commission should consider a <br /> recommendation to the Council as to what <br /> should be done with the donated structure. <br /> The building is on the corner of Stubb's Bay <br /> Road and Watertown Road. It is currently <br /> located on property donated to the University <br /> of Minnesota. <br /> GREENWAY SOCIETY A brief description of the Greenway Society <br /> was given to each member. Members were asked <br /> to read it over before the next meeting. Mr. <br /> Surrey Gage, an active member of the Society <br /> will be asked to speak at the next meeting <br /> regarding this group, to give us an in depth <br /> picture of this groups activities. <br /> CITY PARRS John Gerhardson showed the new members the <br /> location and what was available at each City <br /> park. Swimming beaches were included in the <br /> introduction. <br /> PARR FACILITY TOURS Plans were initiated to have a joint "get- <br /> together" with the Council , Planning Commis- <br /> sion and Park Commission as well as members of <br /> the City staff to tour each park facility. A <br /> tentative date was set for June 4 , 1985 at 6 <br /> P.M. Finalization of these plans will be made <br /> a a later date. <br /> 1 <br />
