CITY OF ORONO <br /> PARK COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> The regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission was held on November <br /> 3 , 1981 . <br /> The following members were present: ATTENDANCE <br /> Chairman Tomlinson, Stinson, Watson <br /> Sweatt, Kelley. Present also was <br /> Councilmember Mary Butler. <br /> There was a discussion on what kind of parks PARKS <br /> people are looking for. The consensus is; <br /> not the slick, developed kind, but casual <br /> like Hackberry and Summit Park, with parking <br /> space and picnic tables. There is $130 , 000 <br /> in the park development fund. Orono has 3 to <br /> 5 acre zoning which means a continual very <br /> slow growth for this area. We discussed <br /> perhaps havinq a 5 year development plan. <br /> The Park Commission expressed concern about <br /> the F`orest Lake Public Area. Highwood Park <br /> has 7 acres with chipped wood paths meandering <br /> through. There is minimum maintenance now and <br /> it could stand some attention.
