-�� <br /> CITY OF ORONO <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> MARCH 3 , 1981 <br /> The regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission was held on <br /> March 3, 1981 . <br /> The following members were present: ATTENDANCE <br /> Erger, Tomlinson, Watson, Peterson, <br /> Sweatt, John Gerhardson also attended. <br /> Bruce Dayton has offered to the City of WAKEFIELD FARMS OUTLET <br /> Orono a one acre parcel for a park adjacent <br /> to property off Old Long Lake Road. Because <br /> the land is low and wet, and because the <br /> development of additional park facilities <br /> is not needed in this area, the Park Com- <br /> mission recommends to the City that this <br /> property be respectfully declined as a <br /> park property. The motion was made by <br /> Lee Tomlinson, seconded by Barbara <br /> Peterson. Passed <br /> The Park Commissioners are requested to SANDY BEACH COMPLAINTS <br /> personally look at the property and come <br /> to the next meeting with some suggestions. <br /> Neighbors to one side of the beach have <br /> complained to the Orono City Council that <br /> there is a parking problem and abuse of rules <br /> in the swimming area. Petitions were submitted <br /> both for and against closing or tightening con- <br /> trols of the beach area. <br /> The City has passed a resolution which COUNCIL RESOLUTION <br /> states in part that park dedication funds <br /> be used only within the City of Orono for <br /> parks, playgrounds , etc. . See attached sheet. <br /> Therefore, the funds cannot be used for the <br /> Westonka Ice and Recreation Center. <br /> Members of the Park Commission are asked SUMMIT PARK <br /> to come to the May meeting with ideas in <br /> hand for improvement to Summit Park. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Virginia E.
