�- 1 . <br /> CITY OF ORONO <br /> PARK COMI�IISSION <br /> Regular neeting of the Orono Park Commission held Mayf6 , 1980. <br /> The Orono Park Commission met on the ATTENDANCE <br /> above date with the following members <br /> present: Chairman Tomlinson, Massengale, <br /> Erger, Peterson, Watson, Kelley and <br /> Goetten. Also present were Fred Ryan,, <br /> Bill Reese, Toni Berglund, Director of <br /> Community Services and Therese Schwending <br /> Program Coordinator, Summer Recreation <br /> Program, <br /> The minutes of the April meeting were read r�INUTES <br /> and approved. <br /> Fred Ryan appeared before the Park Commission UNIDIPROVED PUBLIC <br /> regarding a piece of unimproved public access <br /> and park land at the intersection of North Arm ACCESS <br /> Drive and Park Drive. The area has become unsafe <br /> for neighborhood children due to its use by <br /> speeding cars and dirt bikes. Ryan requested <br /> that either the City maintain the area by fencing <br /> it or vacate the property to Ryan who would see <br /> to it' s upkeep. <br /> A r.►otion was riade by Goetten, seconded by Watson <br /> to"retain park land and combine with unused public <br /> access to create a more feasible neighborhood park <br /> �rea. Area must be fenced and maintained by the <br /> City. " Motion was unanimously passed. <br /> Bill Reese reported that he had been in touch with . SKI SCHOOL GOLF <br /> Toni Berglund regarding a ski school at Orono Golf' <br /> Course to be offered through Cor.tmunity Services. COURSE <br /> The Park Commission will meet with Mr. Reese at <br /> the Golf Course on June 3 to see the layout feasibil- <br /> ity and costs. <br /> Toni Berglund introduced Theresa Schwending to the PROGRAb1 COORDINATOR <br /> Park Commission. She was hired as the Program Coord- <br /> inator for the Summer Recreation Program in the Orono <br /> School District. The Park Commission was given a <br /> • schedule of her visits to the five communities invol- <br /> � ved in the program. The program will begin June 16 <br /> through August 15 for ages 5-12. Programs in Orono <br /> will be primarily on Tuesday & Friday afternoons. <br />
