� � � <br /> CI1^Y OF ORONG <br /> r PARK COI�'Il�'lISSION <br /> Regular meeting of the Orono Park Cormnission held June 5, 1979. <br /> The Orono Park Coirmiission met on the above ATTENDANCE <br /> date with the following members present: <br /> Cnairman Tomlinson, Berglund, Watson, Kelle9, <br /> Erger. Not present: Peterson, Goetten. <br /> Alsa attending were John Gerhardson, Public <br /> Works Coordinator, and Lilla Patterson. <br /> The minutes of the May meeting were not MINUTES <br /> available, and will be reviewed at the <br /> July meeting. <br /> T�Irs. Patterson expressed concern regarding BIKE TRAILS CONCERN <br /> the inclusion of bicycle trails along County <br /> Rd. 15 if the road ia to be repaved in conjun- <br /> ction with the current sewer excavation. ___ <br /> According to John Gerhardson tr�e roadway itself <br /> is not going to be rebuilt, the sewer route <br /> is in the ditches and sh.oulders off- the road- <br /> way. He felt the county would probably be <br /> considering repaving County Rd. 15 in the next <br /> few years, and should be reminded of the desire <br /> of the City of Orono to include bike paths in <br /> the plannir�. Chairman Tomlinson will s ee that <br /> this is done. <br /> The Bederwood Park Babe Ruth baseball field was BEDERWOOD PARK <br /> discussed. The Park Commissions request for <br /> funding was presented, on Ma9 22nd, to the Orono <br /> City Council, an amount of $6000 for additional <br /> grading, re-seeding, and installation of an <br /> ag-lime infield, as resolved at the May Park <br /> Commission meeting. The council has requested <br /> further information, as well as an indication <br /> of public support for the pro;�ect. Peggy <br /> Watson is going to prepare a letter outlining <br /> the needs for the Babe Ruth Size field, for <br /> presentation at the Jvne 12th council meeting. <br /> Also prepared for that meeting will be the <br /> cit9 engineer' s study of the physical layout <br /> of the park, and a breakdown of the expected <br /> costs. . <br /> Mr. John Newman has contacted Chairman SOCCER GOALS HACKBERRY <br /> Tomlinson regarding the installation of <br /> "permanent" soccer goals at Hackberry Park. <br /> Approval was granted, provided the goals are <br />� constructed to be moved occasionally to pre- <br /> vent destruction of the grass. This will be <br /> done by installing alternate "wells" in to <br /> which the goals mount. <br />
