CITY OF ORONO <br /> PARK COMMISSION <br /> Regular mee ting of the Orono Park Cor►mii s sion <br /> held October 3, 1 978 � ATTIIvTDANCE <br /> The Orono Park Conm�.i.ssion met on the above <br /> date with the following members present: <br /> Chairman Tomlinson, �ger, Kelley, Watson. <br /> Not Present : Berglund, Lathrop, Peterson. <br /> The minutes of the September meeting were app- <br /> roved. MINUTES <br /> Chairman Tomlir.son reported to the comanission R�ORT OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> the results of his appearance before the city <br /> council in September. <br /> 1 . The council accepted the recommendation <br /> from the Park Commission to n�me the Dayton <br /> property "Surarru.t Park". <br /> 2. The recommendation that no f�.inds be ex- <br /> pended on the Highwood Lake access for recrea- <br /> tional purposes was appreciated by the council. <br /> 3. �e Council was informed of the corrIInission's <br /> desire to use some Park Dedication F`und monies <br /> to speed up the development of Bederwood Park. <br /> The response was that this Fund is to be held <br /> for future park property acquisition and develop- <br /> ment, probably when the population of the city <br /> has grown considerably. <br /> After' f�zrther discussion of the f�a.nding of park <br /> development the following was resolved: <br /> Motion by Kelley, second by �ger, as Follows: <br /> Resolved: WHF.REAS the progress of improvements to <br /> Bederwood Park has been very slow and: Y�iEREAS <br /> these delays have been attributed to a shortage <br /> of f�,inds : <br /> THEREFORE: The Park Commission recorrnnends to <br /> the City Coun cil that $8,000.00 be released f�om <br /> the Park Dedication Fund for the completion of <br /> grading, including grading of a tenn:i.s court <br /> site, installation of playground equipment, and <br /> construction of a baseball field. Weather per- <br /> mitting this work should be accomplished this <br /> fall. <br /> Motion was unanimously passed. <br /> Chairman Tomlinson reported that signs wi.11 be SIGNS <br />
