Not <br /> Present: La.throp, �ger, Watson. Also attending, <br /> Jo'nn Gernardson, Orono Public Works Coordinator, <br /> and Dr. Jo'nn 4Jatson, representing tne Nort=� l�inne- <br /> tonka Baseball Assoc. <br /> The minutes of the August meeting were approved. MINUI�S APPRO V-'�.D <br /> Dr. Watson gave a background description of tne DR. WATSON ON BASEBALL PARK <br /> baseball situation in the Maple Plain-Long Lake- <br /> Orono area. 0 nly one full size field suitable <br /> for play by teenage and adult baseball pla�=ers <br /> exists in the communities, at the Orono school <br /> compleX. A minimum of $ teams will be trying <br /> to schedule tnis field next summer for practice <br /> and games. Dr. Watson said his association <br /> would like the proposed field at Bederwood Park <br /> to be a full size field. This means 90foot base <br /> 1 s, and280 ' to 325 ' outfield lines. <br /> The commi.ssioners, Mr. Gernardson and Dr. Watson � <br /> traveled to the Brderwood site to further discuss <br /> the layout of the park and baseball field. The <br /> general location previously designated, on the <br /> low area near the south-central portion of the <br /> property, was deemed to be suitable, provided the <br /> level area can be extended to the North a little, <br /> and proper drainage can be attained. The park has <br /> been plowed, additional earth has been moved, and <br /> the area will be smoothed and seeded this fall, in- <br /> cluding the baseball field. <br /> Dr. Watson has agreed to list the requirements for <br /> a satisfactory baseball field, as well as otner per- <br /> tinent information for presentation by the Park <br /> Cormnission to the council. <br /> John Gerhardson noted tn.at he is limited by funding <br /> for current park improvements. This prompted further <br /> discussion of the use oP park dedication funds, some <br /> of which could be used to speed improvements at Beder- <br /> wood. <br /> Ty Commission was informad of the placenent of a PLkC�I�NT OF SIGNS <br /> s��_i at Antoine Park, which will be copied, in style, <br /> for other parks in the cotnmunity. The commissioners <br /> were asked to look at this sign to see if it is accept- <br /> ab1e. <br />
