� � CITY OF ORONO <br /> , ,., <br /> PARK COr1MI55I0N <br /> Regular meeting of the Orono Park Commission <br /> held December 6, 1977 : <br /> The Orono Park Commission met on the above ATTENDANCE <br /> date with the following members present: <br /> Chairman Tomlinson, Berglund, Lathrop, Kelley, <br /> Watson and Erger. No members were absent; Also <br /> in attendance was Mayor Brad Van Nest. <br /> The minutes of the November 1 , 197? meeting MINUTES APPROVED <br /> were accepted. <br /> Lee Er�er has been officially appointed to the OFFICALLY APPOINTED: LEE <br /> Park Commission by the City Council. ERGER <br /> Mayor Van Nest suggested we fill the existing PROSPECTIVE MEMBER LIST <br /> vacancy on the Park Commission and referred to <br /> a list of Orono citizens who have expressed an <br /> interest in serving in some capacity. Chairman <br /> Tomlinson will contact those on the list. <br /> Roland Ber�lund, whose term is scheduled ta ROLI�ND BERGLUND TO REMAIN <br /> expire this month, has agreed to continue as a AIdOTHER TERM <br /> member for another term. <br /> �e Park Commission is recommending to the STREET LIGHTS: ANTOINE & <br /> Council that street lights be ordered for HACKBERRY PARKS @ $20.�.0/YR. <br /> Ant�ine Park and Hackberry Park. The principle 1 . VANDALISM <br /> reason is to discourage vandalism of new equip- 2. NIGHT SKATING <br /> ment installed or scheduled for installation at <br /> those parks. A secona reason is to provide <br /> some illumi.nation for night skating at the rink <br /> at Antoine Park. Costs, per pon Flewelling of <br /> NSP, will be $6.80/Year per 175 watt light. The <br /> Park Commission recommenas locating two lights <br /> at Antoine Park and one at Hackberry. <br /> The projects reported to be ready to proceed at RESCHEDULING OF PARK PRO JECTS <br /> the last commission meetin� were all delayed by FOR NEXT SPRING <br /> early snowfall and have all been rescheduled for <br /> next spring. Equipment for Antoine Park is in <br /> storage at the City garage. The cammission felt <br /> that these projects should be given top priority <br /> next spring by the Public Works Department. A <br /> memo to that effect wi11 be sent to the depart- <br /> me nt. <br /> Bike trails were discussed. It was determined BIKE-IiIKE TRAILS STUDY TO <br /> that ample atudy had been done by the Bike-Hike BE SENT TO STATE & COUNTY <br /> Trails Committee and that it ' s recommendations, <br /> as shown in a prepared book, be forwarded to the <br /> Hennepin County Highway Department for inclusion <br /> in its planning. Those recommendations will be <br /> condensed and shown on a map to go to the <br /> County. <br /> -'l - <br />
