CITY OF ORONO <br /> Regular �eeting of the Park Commission, 8e45 P.rZ. <br /> July 10, 1975 <br /> The Orono Park Commission met on the above <br /> date with the following members presento <br /> Chairman Opheim, Kallestad, Lathrop, and <br /> Peasley. Absento Berglund, Hallowell, <br /> Kubalsky, Leipold, Oberhauser, and Panuska, <br /> The P�Iinutes of the Regular P•Zeeting of May 20, D�INUTES <br /> 1975, were read and approvedo <br /> Chairman Opheim reported that the Orono Council HACKBERRY PARK <br /> had approved the Hackberry Park plan and had <br /> also approved the installation of culverts <br /> under ��lillow Drive. Plans for adequate <br /> parking for the park were also discussed. <br /> Lathrop reported that there will be a bike BIKE PATH REPORT <br /> trail along Willow Drive when that road is <br /> upgraded in the near future. There was a <br /> discussion of a Grant-in-Aid for a bike <br /> trail along County Road #84. <br /> Opheim moved, Kallestad seconded, to ask <br /> the Council to approve the $500 expenditure <br /> to generate an estimate of the cost of <br /> construction of bike paths along County <br /> Roads #51 and #84 as recommended by the Orono <br /> Trails Committee. P�iotion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) . <br /> Lathrop reported that an application for funding SNOt��OBILE TRAIL <br /> for the snowmobile trail from the Luce Line to <br /> County Road #84 has been submitted. <br /> The Bike Trails Committee has recommended bike BII{E RACICS <br /> racks Y�e placed at parks and beaches. Discussion <br /> of the various types of bike racks ensued, The <br /> Park Commission asks that the Trails Committee <br /> be more definitive of what types of bike racks <br /> they want and what the costs will be. <br /> Prior to the meeting, the members present SCOTT PROPERTY <br /> viewed the Scott property. The developers <br /> want to donate two acres in the southwest <br /> corner for park land. The land is too low <br /> for practical park use. The possibility of <br /> a bike trail along County Road #15 or the <br /> Burlington-Northern railroad bed was discussed <br /> as well as a cash donation in lieu of land <br /> offered. <br /> (Continued) <br />
