4 <br /> VILLAGE OF ORONO <br /> - Regular meeting of the Park Commissian, 8;00 P.�4. <br /> February 10, 1970 <br /> The Park Commission met on the above date <br /> with the following members present : Chair- <br /> man Dorrel, Jarl , Jones , Larson, Panuska, <br /> Parten, Smith, tVhite, and Councilmare <br /> Butterfield. Absent: Fahlin , Ogland, and <br /> Wysocky. <br /> Chairman Derrel stated the need for a SECR�TARY <br /> secretary. Mrs. Theodore L. Jones was <br /> nominated and elected. <br /> Chairman Dorrel resigned as chairman anc� a RESIGNATION <br /> nominating committee �vas appointe�l. The <br /> nominating committee consists of the <br /> following: tV,'iite, Larson, and Parten. <br /> The purposes o� the Commission were then PURPOSES OF PARK COidMISSION <br /> presented by Dorrel as outlined by the <br /> di llage Council. They are as fo llo�,rs : <br /> a) To make written recommend.ations on <br /> parks and playgrounds anc� acnuisition <br /> of parcels of land to be used for <br /> recreation in the tTillage of Orono. <br /> b) To make written reports on the goals <br /> of the Commission. <br /> c) To act as a fact-finding committee anc? <br /> look into the needs of Orono as to <br /> recreation in the future. <br /> Discussion was held on a survey and maps 19b4 F, 1965 VILLAGE �IAPS <br /> that had been drawn up in 1�54 F, 1965 by <br /> Brauer and Associates as to projectecl needs <br /> and future population of tiie Village. It <br /> was requested that tl�ese be located and <br /> presented at the next meeting of tjle Park <br /> Commission. The projected population for <br /> Orono in �1985 is 15,000. <br /> Jarl moved, lVhite seconcled, to have tlie I�ILL SCT'�OL PLAYGROUND <br /> Village Council approach t}ie Orono Scliool <br /> Board on the possibility of purchasing the <br /> land that is now tlie Hill School nlaygrouncl <br /> area.
