MINUTES OF THE
ORONO CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Monday, September 22, 2014
5:00 p.m.
Present: Mayor Lili McMillan, Council Members Cynthia Bremer, Lizz Levang and Aaron
Printup; representing Staff were City Administrator Jessica Loftus and Community
Development Director Andrew Mack.
Council interviewed applicants Paul Pesek, Bryce Johnson, and Brenda Johnson for the Park
Commission.
City Administrator Jessica Loftus requested feedback on the 125th Anniversary Celebration.
Discussion ensued regarding the planning details for the event and Council provided input on
the invitation, list of attendees, press release, banner advertisement, refreshments and support
for a donation to the Pioneer Museum (WHCPA)for hosting.
Andrew Mack briefly reviewed background information on regulating e-cigarettes. Council
indicated a draft ordinance ought to consider regulating e-cigarettes as a nicotine product,
including not allowing its use in public locations. Preliminary discussion also indicated support
for allowing the sale of e-cigarettes but not sampling/hookah lounges. Planning Staff will
prepare a draft ordinance amendment and then schedule review of the amendment with
council in the next month or two.
