MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING OF THE <br />PLANNING COMMISSION VILLAGE OF ORONO <br />HELD APRIL k.1964 <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairman D. J. Russell <br />at, 7,45 P.M. The following members were present: H. S. Riceq <br />W. W. Yto1f e, Wm. A. Curry and A. K. Simonson. Absent: D. Sid. Judkinss <br />and D.S.Cleveland'.memb ers'. and ezmoff icio members; D. J. Boll'. <br />Wm.T.Mills'.K.Turnham and R.L.Searles due to a special meeting <br />of the Village Council at this time. <br />BUILDING PERMIT- G.& S.Cabinet shop: <br />r . eyen presen a pans for -a' block construction <br />building 30 X BO feet on Lot 139B1ock 78Navarre Heights to <br />house a cabinet shopeoff ice and display room. The Commission <br />discussed the subjects of noise'.dust control, and other aspects <br />of the proposal including grading of the site (Village to get <br />the dirt). Curry moved to recommend approval of the request. <br />The motion was seconded by Rice and carried. <br />SUBDIVISION: Frieda Schall <br />After a lengthy discussion of the legal opinion given by <br />Village Attorney Newhall re Lot 3'.Block 2 and Lot 2� Block 4r, <br />Crystal Bay Park and reports by members present all of whom <br />have viewed the property, it was the consensus that the sub= <br />division9while not Ideal might be better than leaving a 50 <br />foot lot.in view of the fact that this is a transition area <br />from larger lots to the east to small lots to the crest and the <br />fa6b that while only 74 and 76 feet wide the lots each contain <br />approximately 42 000 sq. feet. Rice moved recommending that <br />Council approve the request. The motion was seconded. by Curry <br />and passed. <br />ZONING STUDY <br />The Chair submitted alternate plans for final coding of <br />the proposed Zoning Ordinances. After some discussion, it was <br />decided to adopt the plan that would conform to the indexing <br />used in the Orono Municipal Code'.repeal and replace Chapters <br />30,31'.32'.33'.34 and 36. 150 and add a new Chapter (35). A rough <br />outline of the Chapters and categories to appear under each <br />was submitted to the secretary for duplication and distribu- <br />tion to the members for their information. <br />A committee made up of Y% W.Wolfe and A.K.Simonson was <br />assigned the project of "Multiple Dwellingef. This committee <br />and one dealing with "Commercial- Industrial" problems will <br />report at a special meeting to be head Monday'.May 11th. <br />Wm.A.Curry brought up the subject of high -rise multiple <br />dwellings (Apartments) and It was discussed. <br />There being no further businese'.the meeting was adjourned. <br />S.
