They were to use while
going through the process of installing a permanent solution. I have met with a representative of the
State Fire Marshall's Office on site to discuss what Your Boat Club is currently using to fuel their boats.
He had a few issues with the current set up. He would like to see the tank and dispenser moved farther
from the gazebo. It should be fifty (50) feet away from an important building. I am alright with the
location of the dispenser on a temporary basis, since the fueling operations are not open for the public
and only used on Your Boat Club's boats and only by their trained employees. My approval of the
dispenser loca6on is also on condition that the tank is only filled to 560 gallons or less too. Orono has
another marina with similar conditions for fueling boats in the beginning of the boating season, so I am
basing part of my approval on the past history on fueling boats at a marina in Orono.
Your Boat Club will need to install no smoking signs and hazard identification signs per the State Fire
Code. They also will need to install venting pipes for the tank that are twelve (12) feet above the
ground. They will need to ensure that there is not more then 560 gallons of fuel in the tank at any point.
They will also need to relocate the platform 50'from the gazebo.
I grant them approval to fuel boats for 90 days if the above conditions are met and they are going
through the approval process for installing a permanent fueling solution such as but not limited to a
below ground tank with the dispenser mounted out on the dock. If they don't meet these conditions
then they will not be permitted to fuel their boats.
Res ully, _
; i
, V,.
ames Van Eyll
Fire Chief
Long Lake Fire Department
1
