Celtics star Kevin Garnett gives up home court

Boston Celtics [team stats] star Kevin Garnett has sold a Big Ticket
item-his 15-acre Minnesota estate.
Garnett, known as"Big Ticket"to Celtics fans, sold the spread for$3 .;
million to ex-United Healthcare CEO William McGuire, according to
interviews and public records.
"It's a very,very nice place,"said Steven Webster, a real estate
agent who wasn't involved in the sale but lives next door. "It's very
palatial, but a very private setting."
Garnett bought the one-time farm in 1998 for$1.35 million while
playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves,then proceeded to spend
big bucks on a two-year renovation.
"He did a fabulous job on the remodeling,"said Webster,who
estimates the site would have fetched up to$8 million in better times.
"I think McGuire got a hell of a buy." ;
The estate is located in Orono, Minn., an exclusive community of 1 41111111116,
multimillion-dollar homes situated along Lake Minnetonka just Photo by Matthew Healey(file)
outside of Minneapolis.
Webster said the home's previous owners have included heirs to the Hamm's Beer and Dayton-Hudson department-store
fortunes.
The estate features a 10,673-square-foot main house, a private pond and two six-car garages that Webster said Garnett
stocked with Bentleys and Ferraris.
The athlete also converted the site's barn into a two-story kennel for his five Rottweilers,two pit bulls and two mastifs.
A local official who inspected the facility in 2004 told a reporter that the dogs"live better than most people,"with a full-time
handler and their own TV to"watch Daddy(play)."
Garnett,who bought a$4.6 million Concord home in 2007 after joining the Celtics,couldn't be reached for comment.
