Dear Mr. Weinberger,
This letter addresses Permit #2565 submitted by Peter Scherer, 15 Orono Orchard Road for a
variance renewal for lot width. There is no objection to the variance renewal. However,there is
concern about the site plan for the property. The copy of the site plan received was not easy to
decipher, but it appears that the access road is very close to the property line with the Luce Line State
Trail.

A 30 foot setback line is noted on the plan and includes large portions of the access road. Is there a
reason why the setbacks are not being enforced in this case? It would be in the best interest of the
state trail and the landowner if the setbacks were followed on this property. The setback
requirements would allow for additional screening between the trail and the residence and prevent
future problems concerning the property boundaries.
Please include these concerns in the permit file for consideration. Also,please keep this office
informed of any future development plans for this property.
