Box 66 Orono, MN 55356 Crystal Bay, MN 55323-0066 September 12, 2003 Lori &Tony Kmetz 640 Orchard Park Road Orono, MN 55356 Re: Pole Barn Standards Dear Mr. &Mrs. Kmetz: Following is a brief summary of the zoning standards for a pole barn on your property, which is in Orono's RR-1A 5-acre zoning district: 1. In order to obtain a building permit an updated survey will be required, showing all existing and proposed buildings on the property. 2. The setbacks for a storage barn depend on the footprint size of the barn: a) Footprint up to 750 s.f. : Front- 100' Side- 10' Rear- 10' b) Footprint 750-1000 s.f.: Front- 100' Side- 15' Rear- 15' c) Footprint greater than 1000 s.f.: Front- 100' Side- 50' Rear- 100' 3. The maximum size accessory building you can have on you 4.8 acre property is 2000 s.f. footprint. You can have a total of 4000 sf. of accessory buildings,but only one can be over 1000 s.f. 4. If the pole barn is for animal housing, it must be at least 75' from all property lines and at least 150' from neighboring residence structures.
