Long Lake, MN 55356 Dear Mr. and Mrs. Kmetz: You have a failing septic system which is discharging effluent to the surface at 640 Orchard Park Road. This system poses an imminent threat to public health and safety and must be repaired as soon as possible. The Orono Municipal Code requires the upgrade of systems which are discharging to the surface within ninety(90) days of the inspection date. Our records indicate that the system has been discharging to the surface since before you became the owner of the property. A letter dated June 25, 1996 was sent to you regarding the failure and the required repair of the system. A permit was issued to Bud Gleason on August 14, 1996 for the installation of a replacement septic system at 640 Orchard Park Road. No system was installed and the permit expired. Because you have already been notified about the septic system failure, we must now require the repair of the system by June 22, 1998. A design is approved at the City Offices, but a new permit is required as the old permit expired after one year of inactivity. Please contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely, ' Of he-- . Do avoid unnecessary foot traffic over the mound, mow it and stay off of it. This is especially true in the winter time. Even human foot traffic can cause frost to penetrate the mound resulting in potential freezing problems. Do inspect your mound system annually for winter kill, (reseed if necessary) animal damage, (burrowing)or signs of potential failure. Do not plant trees or shrubs on the mound system, smaller trees and shrubs may be planted at the edges. Remember, that sunshine is the key to a healthy mound system.
