Co., MN A Compliance inspection was completed for the existing on-site sewage treatment system located on this property. The system consists of a 500 gallon trash trap, 500 gallon Multi-Flo treatment system, a 1500 gallon pumping chamber with a timer&an At-Grade system sized for a 2 bedroom home, 256 gal/day installed 8-4-1995. Soil boring #1 found mottled soil (redox features) at 38" below the ground surface. Boring#2 found mottled soil at 36" into the original soil. An At-Grade system is placed at the original soil leaving a 3' separation from the bottom of the system& redox features. This system is in Compliance with Minnesota Chapter 7080 rules. The tanks were pumped &found to be compliant. The cover of the electrical box was damaged &was rplaced. The Multi-Flo system requires a yearly service contract which has been in place since the system was installed with Schirmers Wastewater Treatment Systems. A new aerator was also installed at this time. The yearly cost for the service is $180.00 (2012 price). The unit is serviced in the spring &fall. Nothing other than human waste, toilet tissue, laundry, showers, water softener etc. should be disposed of into the septic tanks. Iron filters must be diverted out of the system. Recommend to divert the water softner also. Garbage disposals are not recommended, due to adding more solids &fine solids passing through to the system. Excessive amounts of soaps, anti-bacterial soaps, cleaning agents, shower cleaners used every shower&chlorine agents may kill the bacteria needed to treat septic effluent. Additives are not recommended. The trash trap, Multi-Flo and pumping chamber will need to be pumped out when the retable solids reach 50% in the unit. This will be determined at the time of the services. Recommend laundering be limited to 3 to 4 loads per day. Recommend to turn off your water when you are on vacation or not home for a period of time. Steven . Schirmers 1 May. 14. 2012 12: 39PM No. 0472 P. 2 S-P TESTING, INC. Steven B. When the septic permit was obtained in 1995 it was required that you must have a multi-flo in order to reduce the size of your drainfield. In order for this permit to be valid, and for the drainfield to work the way it was designed, you must have a properly maintained multi-flo. The multi-flo must be maintained a minimum of once per year. If the multi-flo lacks maintenance it will start to fail and your drainfield will also start to fail. This is the last site for a drainfield on your property so you must make sure to take extra care with the multi-flo and drainfield. If your drainfield is found to be non-compliant you will be forced to go to holding tanks on your property. Pumping holding tanks get very expensive and are not a very practical form of waste removal. The State of MN also requires the property owner to maintain a service contract for the life of the unit. If you do not have a service contract for your multi-flo you will be violating your permit from the City and State Code. You must get a service contract established for your multi-flo by May 15,2007 or your system will not be up to code. If the system is ever found to be failing you will be required to upgrade your system to a code system within 90 days. Due to the size of your lot this option would be more than likely holding tanks.
