Re: 2338 Olive
Dear Mr. Albers:
The City of Orono recently sent you a letter in regards to correcting some possible health and
safety problems at a house you own at 2338 Olive. We subsequently discussed your plan to
address the problems after your renters.moved out on April 1st.
The renters have not moved out as of today. We must require that you do the following by
April 15, 1994:
1) Excavate the cesspool in the driveway that was filled in with rock, car batteries,
and assorted junk to verify that only "clean fill" remains as per Orono City
Ordinance.
2) Repair broken plumbing to prevent escape of sewer gas into crawl space.
3) Provide access to water heater.
If these items are not corrected by the due date, further legal steps will be taken.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. I look forward to getting this resolved.

Re: 2338 Olive
Dear Mr. Albers:
On April 11, 1994 the driveway at 2338 Olive was excavated to remove the remainder of the
junk which was buried in the abandoned cesspool. A sheet of black plastic, one can of dried
out paint, one can of solid plaster, a few chunks of concrete and a couple beer cans joined the
three car batteries and wheel with tire that were dug up the week before. At a depth of about
30" uniform rock fill was encountered and excavation was halted. The site has been cleaned up
adequately.
One plumbing leak was repaired the same day and several more leaks were repaired on April
13th. The City gave permission to repair the leaks temporarily using the same methods as
originally installed. While these repairs solve the immediate threat of leaky plumbing, they
must be considered temporary only. Please arrange for another inspection when you have
decided with your plumber exactly what permanent repairs will be made.
While inspecting the plumbing, we found some of the duct work is in need of repair. Some
portions have rusted out completely, others have merely fallen apart.
The panels covering the water heater have been removed, satisfactorily completing the repairs
required by April 15th.

Thank you for the cooperation and prompt action on these issues. If you have any questions
about completing some of the other repairs we have discussed, please call.
