RE: Yard Light
Dear Ms. Day:
The City has recently received a complaint about the yard light mounted on your garage at 2314
Olive Avenue. The City has an ordinance that requires property owners to provide shielding
to prevent light from affecting adjacent property owners.
Please provide the shielding as soon as possible. If you have any questions or if I can assist you
in any way, please feel free to contact me at my office.

RE: Yard Light
Dear Ms. Day:
Thank you for your attempt to block the light from your yard light onto the neighboring
property. Unfortunately, the light is apparently still a problem. The light shines into the
bedroom next door, thru the shades and makes it difficult to sleep. I can understand your
security concerns, however, in a neighborhood such as your with the homes so close, it is
difficult not to infringe on the rights of others. Perhaps a light with a motion detector could
serve your needs and not offend the neighbor.

Dear Ms. Day:
Thank you again for your further attempts to resolve the lighting problem. I have been
informed, however, that your changing to lighting lining the drive has not solved the problem.
Apparently leaving the lights on all night is not acceptable. Again I suggest a motion detector
to activate the lighting. This type of lighting has worked quite well for security.
