I represent Robert MacDonald with respect to the zoning and building permit issues concerning the above property in the City of Orono. Mr. MacDonald contacted our firm yesterday for assistance in this matter. I understand that you sent him a letter which requested certain action by July 6, 2004, or else you would need to consider referring the matter to the City's legal counsel for possible legal action. I have not yet had a chance to review the letter. Based on our telephone conversation, however, I understand that the relevant date is now July 23, rather than July 6. I will review the letter and the associated issues with Mr. MacDonald and get back in touch with you soon. Thank you very much. Very truly yours, LEONARD, STREET AND DEINARD, P.A. Matthew B. During removal of the hardcover, Mr. MacDonald's contractor discovered a 4-inch slab of concrete which is taking additional time to remove. Based on my conversations with Mr. MacDonald's contractors, it is my expectation that the work should be complete and be able to be inspected by the City prior to the November 12, 2004 deadline. However, the discovery of the 4-inch slab of concrete was a surprise and has resulted in the work taking longer than expected. The purpose for my call yesterday was to let the City know about the status of the work and of the possibility that Mr. MacDonald would be requesting a reasonable extension of the November 12 deadline. You indicated that as long as the work was moving forward you did not see a problem with granting such a request. Thank you for your cooperation. I am hopeful that the work will be complete by November 12, 2004, and that this matter will then be complete. Very truly yours, LEON TREET AND DEINARD Profess' a ssociation Tithy .
