We anticipate that potential creation of a new (Institutional) zoning district will be a topic of discussion when the City updates the Comprehensive Plan. That process is likely to begin in 2015 — 16. Creating an Institutional district will involve many more properties than just the School such as, churches, private schools, municipal and other government facilities etc. You could certainly make an application to request the City to establish a new zoning district but in doing so you will bear the costs to review the application. Due to our workload the current City staff would need outside assistance on this type of request. This could likely involve a consulting planner and our attorney which, based on past applications, could be expensive. If you can wait for our Comprehensive Plan process to begin you can have input while not incurring costs involved in creating a new zoning district. I agree, it would be nice to have all these closed out. Moving forward I will do a better job of calling to schedule inspections. Are yous till open to looking at a re-zoning of the school district property to institutional? If so, I'd love to come up with a proposal. Now that I understand better what the status is of each of the various projects, I have a couple thoughts on the existing and upcoming or on-going projects. Please see the status report below. Each of the open permits has a status note regarding what inspections are needed, follow up, etc. I think we can agree the CUP and building permit for the athletic field from 2008 should be finalized. I will make the appropriate notes in our file so that it can be closed out and that $2,500 escrow released. I think the same could be said for the softball field construction. However, the building permits for the sheds somehow did not receive any inspections. I think it would be good to have our inspector check these structures so that we can close the appropriate files in our system and stay on top of the active permits moving forward. It is a requirement of the permit that, while the sheds/buildings are under construction, you or your contractor could contact the City at the appropriate times to have the footing, framing, and final inspections completed. Because the school property is so far removed, at least visibly, from the public view it is difficult for our inspectors to keep an eye on current projects and when inspection requests should be expected.
