RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING CONTINUATION OF CDBG FUNDING OF
WESTERN COMMUNITIES ACTION NETWORK(WeCAN)
WHEREAS,the City of Orono has supported services for its residents given by WeCAN, a
community based human service organization dedicated to helping low-income people achieve
greater self-efficiency and family stability; and
WHERAS,these services include emergency assistance for housing stability, family, support
services, Meals on Wheels, a mobile food shelf, employment support,public assistance intake
services and other resources.
NOW,THERFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Orono recommends to the
Consolidated Pool Selection Committee that Community Development Block Grant(CDBG)
funding of Western Communities Action Network(WeCAN)be continued.
Adopted by the Orono City Council the 8th day of January, 2018.
