We have been contacted by the City of Orono who would like you to meet in a
mediation session to discuss:
Neighbor/Neighbor Issues
An informational brochure about our services is enclosed.
� We hope you will consider this process as it is designed to benetit all parties. We do
not represent either side. The process is voluntary and any party may withdraw if they
determine the mediation is no longer serving their needs.
Mediation can be an effective method of resolving problems with others, particularly
as an alternative to litigation. It allows people to work together to seek a mutually
beneficial solution in a private and confidential setting. There is no judge or outside
third person telling the parties what they have to do. Rather, the parties come up with
their own solution as they determine appropriate for their specific circumstances.
Mediators are community volunteers with various backgrounds, interests and
occupations. All mediatars have received thirty hours of initial training and at least
six additional hours of continuing education each year.
Please call our office upon receipt of this letter (763) 561-0033. Refer to the case
number above. Our case developers will be able to answer any questions you may
have about the mediation process and can help schedule mediation at a mutually
agreeable time.
