Dear Mr. Eidem:
It has come to our attention that the septic tank was not
abandoned at the time the sewer connection was made for this
residence. Orono City Code requires that septic tanks no longer
in use must be abandoned.
Although the existing septic tank does not appear to be in
immediate danger of collapsing, the area above the septic tank
has settled several inches and may become hazardous in the near
future. For this reason, we ask that the tank be abandoned
within 30 days from the date on this notice.
Septic tanks are abandoned by caving in the tank cover and
filling the cavity with sand or clean fill. Call for a site
insection when abandonment is complete.
Please contact me at 473-7357 if there are any questions. Thank
you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
