On Monday, March 28, 1994, I inspected the site with the manager, Doug Erickson. He acknowledged that the styrofoam beads on your shoreline and extending to the Spragues' property, as well as the styrofoam beads in his ramp area, are from Lakeside's floating docks. He agreed to have an employee remove the offending clutter from the lakeshore. He also indicated that Lakeside is proceeding to change over to flotation bins rather than unprotected styrofoam, in response to LMCD and City ordinances requiring the phasing out of unprotected styrofoam dock floats. A copy of Orono's ordinance, adopted in November, 1992, is attached. Note that after December 31, 1994, use of unprotected styrofoam for docks will no longer be allowed. Please feel free to contact me at 473-7357 if I can be of further assistance. Sincerely, i Michael P.
