It has come to the attention of the City that a newly constructed shed has been built or
placed on your property. Construction without the proper permits is in violation of City Cody
Section 86-66.
This letter will serve as your notice that the property must be brought into compliance
before Mondav, December 3. 2012. In order to bring the property into compliance a complete
building permit application and all the required submittals must be submitted before Monday,
December 3, 2012 or the structure must be removed from the property. Enclosed is a Building
Permit Application.
I have attached the pertinent City Code for your reference. If you have any questions, please

It is unlawful for any person to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convert,
or demolish any buAding or structure, or any part or portion, including but not limited to the general
construction, plumbing, water well, on-site sewage treatment system, wood stoves and fireplaces,
ventilating, heating or air conditioning systems, or cause such work to be done, without first obtaining a
separate building or general permit for each such building, structure or separate component from the
city.

Re: Utility shed located at 3070 North Shore Dr, Orono MN.
The owners of 3070 North shore Drive, Shelley and Ralph Smith, invited
me to review the placement and esthetics of their newly placed utility shed
on their property. As the owner of the adjacent property at 3090 North
Shore Drive (the neighbor with the closest property to the new shed) I
have no objections to the addition. I believe the placement of the shed
within the property is well thought out. The shed is approximately 11 feet
from my property line and is of reasonable size. It fits well with the
surroundings as its siding matches the Smith's home and is painted the
same color as their home.

This letter is to follow-up on my February 22"d email regarding your options for the after-the fact
permit for the shed. Your options are as follows:
• Relocate the shed to a conforming location;
• Removed the shed from the property; or
• Apply for a variance
The property was inspected on March 11, 2013 and to-date the shed remains in the same
location without proper permits. The variance application deadline is Wednesday,
March 20, 2013 at Noon. The shed must be moved to a conforming location, removed from the
property or a complete variance application submitted by March 20, 2013. A copy of the
variance application is enclosed.
