Dear Lyle,
Thank you for meeting with Tom Hysell and me last
week. I have a better understanding of what the building
code requirements are for our planned renovation.
Also, regarding your letter of September 3 (enclosed),
do you want any additional information at this time?
Best egards,

RE: Building Classification
Dear Ms. Larson:
It has come to the attention of this office that the use of your building may have evolved over the
years, therefore I am requesting information on the current use of the building. Please submit class
schedules and ages of students. Please be aware that a change in use may require building code
updates to the building.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at my office.
Sincerely,

Dear Mike,
I appreciated your taking the time for our phone conversation last
Wednesday referencing the Minnetonka Center for the Arts. As I
elained,it had been our intent to renovate the present building, yet
when the estimated costs were determined, the difference between a
remodelled and new building was rather surprising! The reason for the
inquiry was to understand the process of approval from the City of
Orono for a new building prior to our reviewing this as an option.
As I understand, the approval process for a new building would follow
the same procedure as remodelling. First, the Art Center requests a
conditional use permit to build, which is reviewed by the planning
commission who then sends the request to the City Council. The
process generally takes two to three months for final approval, providing
there are no requests for site variances.
We will keep you updated with our progress and would welcomeny
comments that you might have concerning this project.
With thanks,
