As we had discussed,we are submitting this 1e1te�as a means to inform you and your
nexghbors with regards to the asbestos abateme�t process and th�e health aad safety
precautions that axe taken to insure againsE the exposw�e to individuals sad propetty �
adjaceiit to the abaumerrt work areas.
First uf aA DCI is licea�ed by the St�te of M�n�a�esota to perform asbestos��nt. In
ocder to obtain this license we nwst have ticensed a�ad trsine�persomiel Fafor4ruing the
abatee�t woir�c. We follow all State and Federal regulations that apply to the asbestos
abateme�t pcocess. Furthe�more,the State of N�rune�ota is one of the most striugeat
States with ragards to asbestos abatement regulations.
To ptotect against co�tamtiraating areas adjaceM to the abateme�t work area, an enclosure
is constiucted. This e�nclosure is conshucted using 2-laye�rs of 6-mil poly. A ne,gati�+e
pressure is n�aintained within the enclosure(a manometer is used to monitor the leve�of
. ..n�ativc pressure). HEPA filtered air ftltration devices are used to maurtain tlus�eg�stive � .
pressure a�ad provide the e�►closure wrth a�zwlimum of four air exchanges per hour. The
air fron►inside the work area is exhaust throvgh these HEPA filtered air flltratian devices.
The make-up eir for the en�closwe is drawra through a five-stage decontamination c6ambe�. .
Prior to lea�ag ti�e work area all personnel and materi�l nwst go througtt a �
decontamin�ion pmcess. All material must be wcapped and sealed within two layers of 6-
mil poty or be ettclosed and sealed within t�ro 6-xuil poly bags. The matenial withia the
poly/bags must be kept wet to prevent release of asbestos iato the ai�r i,n the cBse of a
breach Duritmg the abatemem p�ocess the asbestos material must be kept wet at all tim�es.
This proces9 minimizes the dust within the wo�rk area.
An eo�clo9ad, locked dum�ster i�used to store the asbestos containiag materisls once it xs
deconta�ted and removed from the work area.
