the approved plans and specifications,applicable City approvals,and the
State Building Code. This permit is for only the work described and dces
not grant permission for additional or related work which requires sepazate
permits. All provisions of laws and ordinances goveming this type of work
shall be compied with whether or not specified herein.This permit will
expire and become null and void if construction authorized is not
commenced within 180 days of the date of issuance,or if construction is
suspended for a period of 180 days at any time after work has commenced.

GENERAL INFORMATION
1. You may apply for plumbing permits by mail or in person at the City offices. Applications will be
reviewed and a permit will be issued within two working days.
2. Permit cards will be sent by return mail after a review is completed. PERM[TS ARE NOT
VALID UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A PERMIT. WORK MUST NOT BEGIN UNTIL THE
PERMIT CARD IS POSTED ON THE JOB SITE.
3. Plumbing permits may be issued ONLY to licensed plumbing contractors and to property owners
residing in the dwelling.
4. When any new construction or remodeling is involved,a separate building permit must be
obtained.
5. All work must be done in accordance with State Code requirements.
6. All work must be inspected and air tested before it is covered. Call(952)249-4600.

SCOPE: This review is limited to the design of this particular project only insofar as the provisions of the
Minnesota Plumbing Code, as amended, apply, and does not cover the water supply or sewerage system to which
this plumbing system is connected. The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is
based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility
for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer.
Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report. Special care
should be talcen to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance with the
provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans,specifications,and this Report on
Plans must be retained at the project location for future reference.
INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of
the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2830, no plumbing work may be
covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made for applying an air test at
the time of the roughing-in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2820, subpart 2, of the code. A
manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the finished
plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to notify the Minnesota Department of Labor
and Industry when an installation for a state contract job, Minnesota Department of Health licensed healthcare
facility, or project in an area where there is no local administrative authority is ready for an inspection and test. To

REQUIREMENT(S):
1. All commercial kitchen sinks,with the exception of mop sinks and hand sinks, shall be provided with 3/4-
inch hot and cold water supply branch lines as a minimum(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1730, subpart 2).
The pot and preparation sinks shall comply with this requirement.
2. The horizontal branch serving a dishwasher, pot sink,and the floor drain must be at least 2-1/2 inches in size.
3. Any pot or scullery sink must be provided with waste outlets not less than 2 inches in diameter(see
Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1390, subpart 1). Verify compliance for this requirement.
4. Water supply connections to fixtures or equipment which have submerged inlets,or inlets below the spill line
of the fixture or equipment,must be provided with an air gap arrangement, approved backflow preventer or
backflow preventer assembly as specified in Minnesota Rules,part 4715.2000 and part 4715.2010.

5. Verify that the existing water supply and waste systems are sized to accommodate the added fixtures(see
Minnesota Rules,part 47153800 and part 4715.2310).
6. Sufficient hot water shall be provided to adequately serve fixtures that require hot water for the proper
functioning of the fixtures.
7. Requirements for water heater:
a. Water heaters, including their controls and valves,must be installed so that they are capable of being
reached safely and quickly for inspection, repair,or replacement without requiring the use of tools or the
removal of obstacles,panels,or similar obstructions(see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2240).
b. A full-way valve must be provided on the cold water supply line to the water heater(see Minnesota
Rules,part 4715.1800).
c. Pressure/temperature relief valve must be piped and discharged to an approved location within 18 inches
of the floor.
8. Consideration shall be made for the drain material receiving the dishwasher hot waste discharge if there is a
booster heater in the dishwasher. If plastic pipe is used,the waste line shall be properly supported on
continuous metal strips for the entire length.
9. Equipment installation requirements:
a. All water treahnent and food/beverage equipment along with supply piping for potable water must
conform to the applicable NSF drinking water standards.
b. Water supply piping serving food or beverage equipment which is not part of a certified equipment
meeting NSF standards must be installed with code approved material for water distribution piping.
10. Requirements for indirect waste piping:
a Indirect waste piping from multiple food/ice storage bins shall discharge independently to the drainage
system.
b. Indirect piping ftom the coolers/equipment shall be at least 3/4 inches in size.
c. Indirect waste piping from devices and equipment not regularly classified as plumbing fixtures must be
of code approved material and be trapped(MN Rules,part 4715.1510).
11. In all buildings other than dwellings, shutoff valves shall be installed which permit the water supply to all
equipment in each separate room or to each individual fixture to be shut off without interference with the
water supply to any other room or portion of the building(see Minnesota Rules,part 4715.1800, subpart 6).
12. Referred to additional general requirements and information dated 4/2012 in the attached handout for the
project.
NOTE(S):
1. The scope of this project consists of the installation of dishwasher,floor drains,prep sinks, pot and scullery
sink,hand sinks, and adding one toilet/lavatory in upper level. All other restrooms/fixtures are existing.
2. This facility will be served by existing municipal water and sewer services.

3. This plan review is for the plumbing systems only and does not pertain to the licensing reyuirements for the
facility. The Hennepin County health licensing authority will report separately on any licensing requirements
which must be met.
4. The plans and specifications were prepared by a licensed plumber. Only the plumber who has prepared the
plans may use the plans for construction. If another plumber is contracted to install the plumbing,they must
submit their own plans and specifications for the project.
Authorization for construction in accordance with the approved plans may be withdrawn if construction is not
undertaken within a period of two years. The fact that the plans have been approved does not necessarily mean that
recommendations or requirements for change will not be made at some later time when changed conditions,
additional information, or advanced knowledge make improvements necessary.
