I have read the email you sent and response received from Mr. Drager at Hennepin County. Upon further review of the situation, because you live on a County Road, Hennepin County is who you need to work with. When we spoke on the phone you had indicated you'd like to have permission to trim the trees/brush in order to improve your sight line when entering and exiting your driveway along County Road 151. The land you are referring to is owned by Hennepin County and again permission would need to come from them. I have attached an aerial view of the area I believe you are referring to. I'm sorry I wasn't of more assistance, but hopefully you and Mr. Drager are able to work out a resolution to your dangerous situation. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. The limited sight distance at your driveway creates a challenging situation. i , � , This section of road has a speed limit of 30 MPH. It also has "reverse turn"warning signs (yellow diamond shaped signs with an arrow with two 90 degree bends) and advisory speed plaques showing 15 MPH. There are two of these for the north/west bound direction and one for the eastbound direction. This is about as much as we can do with standard signing. You have stated that even when an officer is present and ticketing speeders, it does not solve the problem. Experience has shown us that if enforcement is not helping, more or bigger signage is not likely to help either. I can appreciate your suggestion of a mirror to help you to know if vehicles are approaching from the east. However, this would not be something the county would provide or recommend. A mirror can be distracting to drivers on the county road and could cause glare from the sun or headlights to impair the vision of drivers. I do not know how a mirror could be located so it would help you to exit your driveway and not ever cause a problem for other vehicles. There is not much we can do about this situation. The best solution would be to relocate your driveway somehow or realign the county road. Neither of those options are practical or cheap. We are encouraged that there is no known history of crashes at this location and that the driveway has been in this location for quite a number of years. Signing is probably not the answer and you have said that enforcement has limited impact. I encourage you to continue to be cautious when you exit your driveway. If you are able, making a left turn out of your driveway should be safer than making a right turn. Perhaps you can orient your trips in this manner. It is the North side of the bend in County Road 151 going West and then North just before splitting with 19. Every time I go out of my driveway I fear for my life. I cannot see the Westbound traffic. Turning Left (East) out of my driveway I only have seconds to get on the road. I am asking for some advise before someone gets seriously injured. The speed limit is 40 MPH but people generally go much faster. An officer often sits there and tickets people, but that does not solve the problem. I am wondering if a mirror can be put up across the road so I can see the oncoming traffic? Please take my request seriously before someone is hurt or killed. Regards, Benjamin C.
