The gap between the chimney and the firestop may be sealed with high- temperature silicone RTV sealant. This approval is for the top level ceilinq firestop enterinq insulated space only. It does not extend to ceiling firestops between floors at lower levels. HHT also requires the use of an attic insulation shield in this application. Sealing of the ceiling firestops between floors may cause overheating and fire. The changes to instruction manuals are forthcoming.
