Melanie,
I hope you had a good Thanksgiving and you are ready for a great Christmas.
Well,there are always surprises. Just last week Barbra approved the contract for making the stairs out of wood instead of steel. The
plan is very much like the one you have seen before,but we have changed the landings a little and jogged the separate sections of
steps to snake between the trees so as to not harm them. The four landings are only 27 square feet,and they jog just one foot at a
time.
Attached are pdfs of the closeup of the steps,and a copy of the shareline plan along with a partially complete application. What else
would you like me to submit?
I thought you might want my contact information because the first approval had that on it. I could do it for Concept Landscape if that
would be better.

I reviewed the permit application for the detached garage at 1100 Millston Rd but it is incomplete. The application has
what appears to be a blown up version of an old survey with the location of the proposed garage hand drawn on.
Unfortunately this needs to be on a signed survey.

Tom,
While closing out permit project files, I noticed that we have not received a final inspection on
the cabana or an as-built survey for the projects at 1100 Millston Road. A requirement of the
permits for the pool and cabana was submittal of an as-built survey. We still hold an escrow of
$5,000 pertaining to the projects. In order to begin the process for the release of the escrow, an
as-built survey must be submitted. Final grading and landscaping must be done prior to
submittal of an as-built survey. Attached is a copy of our survey requirements. Upon our
engineers review and approval of the as-built survey, we can then process the escrow refund.

As you may remember because a bathroom was part of the plan for your pool cabana, the City required
your signature on a restrictive covenant in order to issue the permit. On the day you stopped in to sign
the covenant your wife, Barbara, was not available to sign. You and I discussed this and decided to
remove Barbara's name from the signature block. I thought this would be an acceptable solution.
Today I received a notification from our attorney that both you and Barbara must sign the agreement in
order to properly record the document at Hennepin County.
In order to resolve this issue we have drafted a new document for signature. It would be very helpful if
you and Barbara would sign the enclosed, revised, agreement before a notary and submit it to me at
your convenience. I apologize for the misunderstanding and any inconvenience this may have caused.
Additionally, the City currently holds an escrow for the pool, cabana and septic system projects in the
amount of $5000. As soon as the projects have been completed, including completion of the final site
grading and vegetation establishment, an as-built survey should be submitted for our review. Once
verification of compliance with the approved ptans is completed via the as-built survey the escrow can
be released. Please have your contractor contact me regarding as-built survey requirements so this can
be taken care of in a timely manner.

We have reviewed the plan for a proposed structure at 1100 Millston Road. The plans are dated
8-25-11. We have the following comments with regards to engineering matters:
• The site and grading plan is acceptable from an engineering standpoint.
• This project will disturb more than 100 CY of material. Sediment and erosion control
information meeting the requirements of Orono's City Code 79-7(c)(2) must be
submitted. The minimum $2000 sediment and erosion control financial security should
be required of the owner for this permit.
