The regular meeting of the Council of the Village of Orono was _ _
held at 7:30 p.m. on September 1l+, 1959 at the Village Hall at � - •
Crystal BaS, Minnesota. _

It was moved, seconded and unanir-�ously carried to dispense with the
r•eading of the rr.inutes of the meeting held on Au�ust � 1°59 • ;

Nr•. �sudinski asked the Council to consider• furnishing a culver•t _
at his property on North Ferndale Road. Road Foreman Stinson was - - - .
asked to checY on this and make recommendations . ���w:,�.:_�,
Fr•eda Sar.dquist explained to the Council that the?-e had been a � -- '
road and culver•t pr•oblem near Forest Lake and asked that tnis be
checked into . .=coad Foreman Stinsor_ was asked to ma�e a repor•t to
the Council on tnis as well .
I�'ir. Steller• ol the ivorthern States Power Company nresented for
signature a new iive year contract covering the street lights to � �`.
replace the one which is abou� tc expire . The contract, which
covers thirty lights at an annual maintenance cost of $70 each,
was appr•oved and signed by the Council .
A delegation of citizens livin� in the John Ferrin (IJia.�:well )
addition appeared before the Councii to urge that tneir r•oad in ,�:.=;, -;_
this additiorl be improved or• blacktopped, and additionally, that
one or• more street lights be provided. They were inf'ormed that
tihey would have to wait tneir tur•n or the road wor�: since tnere
were many requesLs ahead of theirs for• eaually ur•�ent situations
an� insu�'�'icient "unds to bl`'O�-iue a�l of this at once . I� was

Orville Keiran, owner of the Stubbs Bay Resort, appeared
before the Council to inquire as to whether any interested
residents and neighbors were attending this meeting to speak :
to the question of his making the improvements at his resort
which were referred to in a recently advertised announcement
of this meeting. There appearing to be none, Nayor Ross
suggested to Mr. Keirnan that he proceed with the drafting
of plans .

approved.
Constable Ross urged the Council to have the Norther•n States
Power Company install a light at the intersection of Highway 12 �=�-�-=
�r...,
and the highschool road. The Council felt znis was a well
indicated need, but thought the highschool superintendent should
be contacted first to see whether or not the light which is
presently located somewhat north of the inter•section ref'erred
to, be moved, thus elirr�inating the need �'or• two lights in the
same approximate location.
G21 motion dul� made, seconded and unar_imousl� carr•ied, Kenneth
Turnham was appoirted to fill the une�pired portion of Ted
1�laxwell ' s term: as Trustee .
On motion duly made, seconded and unanimlously carr•ied, Nr. Lester .;.r:y,-
Davidson was appointed by the Council to serve for the remainder ""="�
of the Turnham term o�' office as Tr•ustee .
�Preliminar•y acceptance was made of the Adolph Fine development`I
� proposal, sub�ect to the roads ser•ving thi� development being '
��pr•epared acceptably.
There being no further business to be brought before the meeting,
motion to adjourn was made, seconded and unanimousl� car•r•ied. �
