Dear Mr. &Mrs. CazL•
An inspection of your septic system was conducted on July 6, 2000. A summary of the inspection is
below.
Septic Tank Condition
1. Pumpout needed within one year(last pumpout date 4/4/94).
The septic system is non-compliant due to a lack of a three foot sepazation distance between the bottom
of the drainfield to the seasonally high watertable. The three foot requirement is a State Code, not a Ciiy
Code. A soil boring was conducted to determine the depth of the seasonally watertable. The septic
system must be replaced by December 31,2010.
Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who work in Orono on a regulaz basis. Also
enclosed is a fact sheet explaining how a septic system functions properly. Finally, an as-built drawing
is enclosed that shows the approximate location of the septic system.
If you have any questions regarding this report, please contact me at the City Offices at 249-4600.
Res ectfully

This system is Designed for a Type 1, four bedroom home and in accordance
with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Chapter 7080 and local
ordinances. This Design is for future expansion for the existing
house.
The soils on this site are typical of SCS soils mapped - LrB - Lester
loam. A seasonally high water table was located at 22" , 24" & 30" ,
(mottled soil) . Due to the seasonally high water table, a pressurized
mound system will need to be installed. The bottom of the rock bed
must be located at least 3 ' above the seasonally high water table. .
The soils at a dPpth of 18" have a percolation rate averaging 24.4
min/inch and are adequate for treating septic effluent.
A pumping chamber will need to be installed to lift the effluent to the
treatment area.
The manifold and supply line pipe must have back drainage to the pumping
chamber. The distribution pipes shall have their ends capped. Be sure
the rock and sand fill material are clean. The sod layer below the
entire mounded area must be turned over, just .break up the sod, be sure
not to over work.
:,.
The power supply and switches must be located outside the manhole and
pumping chamber in a weather proof enclosure. A warning device must be
installed with a light and sound device, this is in case of a pump failure.
(Mercury floats are a good method) .
All neighboring wells are located more than 100 ' away from the proposed
treatment area & 50 ' away on this site. The City requires a 75 ' setback
.from the well . The existing well will need to be moved at the time
the future expansion area is needed.
Keep all heavy equipment off of the proposed treatment area before and •
after construction as much as possible. The treatment area should be
marked off before construction. ,

2) Don Scott,Lot5,Blk.1
Longview, East parcel
With proper installation and maintenance, this system should have no
problem in treating septic effluent effectively.
Recommend to pump the septic tank every year if there is only 1 tank
& every 2 years if there are 2 tanks.
