Dear Ms. Wendt:
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with information regarding your past variance
application on the above-referenced property, as per your request.
On February 12, 2001, the City Council approved your application for variances to construct a
detached, two stall garage located 5' from the side property line where 10' is required and
entrance to the garage 5' from the north property line where 30' is required.
Resolution no. 4605of the City Council states that the approved variance expires one year from
the date of approval (February 12, 2002) and that application for a building permit must occur
within this time. Since building permit application was not made within this time period,the
approvals granted with the variance application have expired.
In order to construct the detached garage as originally proposed, a new application for variances
will be required. The variance application with application deadline dates is attached, for your
information. If you receive the necessary approvals to build the proposed detached garage, you
will have one year from the date of the approval to obtain a building permit. Also, variance
approvals run with the property, not with the property owner.
