Re: Filling
Dear Mr. Sams:
It has come to the attention of this department that you have recently placed fill in your yard at
1185 Loma Linda Avenue. This letter is to inform you that the City of Orono requires permits
for filling. The application and permit process allows the City to review the proposed work to
avoid any problems. Unforiunately the filling you have done is in a drainage easement. When
the property was subdivided, the drainage easement was created to serve as a partial retention
area to retain the drainage before it reaches a culvert at the south lot line. When the house was
built, the City discussed the limits of filling in the back yard with the builder and he did as much
as was allowed.
Therefore I regret to inform you that the City must require you to remove the fill in the
easement and to restore it to a maximum 4 to 1 slope. The City has established a deadline of
May 1, 1995 for removal. If you have any questions or if I can assist you in any way, please

Re: Filling
Dear Mr. Sams:
On March 24, 1995 this office notified you that you were in violation of City ordinances by
placing fill in your yard in an easement without a permit. The next deadline for Planning
Commission is July 28, 1995. If you fail to make application by this date, the City will be
forced to take legal action. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jeanne A. Mabusth
or myself.
