Dear Ms. Stevens;
We have reviewed your request for "No Parking" signs at the Loma Linda Lake Access. This
lake access is located on a 40 foot wide platted street Right of Way that is an extension of Loma
Linda Avenue that goes to the shoreline of Lake Minnetonka. This azea was platted many yeazs
ago with the street Right of Ways platted for public use. The City of Orono has maintained a
public dock at this lake access for many yeazs, and the access has also historically been used for
the launching of small fishing boats and canoes. The public use of this lake access does result in
the occasional parking of a limited number of vehicles in the access area from persons using the
public dock for fishing etc., and the launching of small boats. The use of this access is not
substantial, is low impact, and generally of a local nature.
The City of Orono has numerous lake access points. The purpose of these accesses is to provide
lake access for local residents who do not have lakeshore property. Attached is a section from the
year 2000 Orono Community Management Plan describing the purpose and functions of lake
access points. Our review of the Loma Linda Lake Access indicates that the current, and
historical use, of this lake access is in conformance with the goals of the Community
Management Plan and provides a valuable opportunity for lake access to azea residents. Our
conclusion is that this access is functioning as intended and there are no plans to change, or
restrict, the use of this access by installing "No Pazking" signs.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Please contact us at 952-249-4600-City Hall or 952-
249-4700-Police should you have any questions
Sincerely;
