It is eroding the area just beyond the street in the SW corner of their property, and it appears that the runoff is then draining to the boat launch just S of her property which I believe is city land. They brought in a plan they had designed for them to mitigate the erosion from runoff from Metro Conservation Services in 2010, which showed a pervious paver strip followed by a bioswale and then finally into a raingarden before leaving their property. They were saying that the city did not allow them to install the project a few years ago because the city saw pervious pavers still as a hard surface increase. Is this still true today? We see benefits in their project and believe it would qualify for cost share funding next spring. We have already passed the deadline for residential cost share funding this year. I would also be interested in have a discussion with the city about the launch and see if there are any opportunities there to cost share on a project. It appears that gravel is needed continuously to minimize gullying and wash outs at the landing. There could also be an opportunity for a project that could minimize the erosion and sediment that is in such a close proximity to the lake. Please let me know who I can talk to about these opportunities and what the city's regulation or stand on the projects would be. Based on our conversation of your interests and the site data I collected during my site visit I have developed a design plan for thevestern edge of your propert}to include a permeable paving area and raingarden. Soil samples taken from 3our front yard shov a loam}sand consistency to a depth of 4 feet. This soil rype provides a significant infiltration capacity capable of exfiltrating readily below the paver base (percolating into subsoil /groundwater). This soIl texture will also allow for effective infiltration within the designed raingarden. There are many permeable pavers options in terms of color, shape and surface texture for you to choose fxom thatvould provide equal capacity for capturing and infiltrating stortmvater runoff. Locally available products include: Uni Eco-.rtore,Borgert Agua-Bic, Anchor Holland Grand Permenble and Willow Creek Brickstone pemeable and Agua-loc permeable. Installarion of the permeable pavers and the adjacent raingarden will provide a net reduction in runoff from}our property including all water pitched off the southern edge oE you drivewaand any vater falling in the front}ard of your property between the house and Linda Loma Ave. In addition vater channeled off of the bituminous roadway on Linda Loma will be captured and infiltrated in the raingarden until the garden reaches it reaches its maximum ponding depth, atvhich point street runoff will by-pass the garden and continue on its previous path along the street gutter. Based on our conversation of your interests and the site data I collected during my site visit I have developed a design plan for thevestern edge of your propexty to include a permeable paving area and raingarden. Soil samples taken from your front yard shov a loamy sand consistenry to a depth of 4 feet. This soil type provides a significant infiltration capacity capable of exftltrating readily belov the paver base (percolating into subsoil/groundwater). This soil texturevill also allov for effective infiltration vithin the designed xaingarden. There are many permeable pavers options in terms of color, shape and surface texture for you to choose from thatvould provide equal capacity for capturing and infiltrating stormvater runoff. Localljavailable products include: Uni Ec•o-.rtone,Borgert Agua-Bic; Anchor Hol/and Grand Pe»reab/e and Willow Creek Brickstone peteable and Aqua-/oc per-meable. Installation of the permeable pavers and the adjacent raingardenvill provide a net reduction in runoff from your property including allvater pitched off the southern edge of you drivevap and any vater falling in the front yard of your pxoperty behveen the house and Linda Loma Ave. In addition vater channeled off of the bituminous roadway on Linda Loma will be captured and infiltrated in the raingarden until the garden reaches it reaches its maxirrium ponding depth, atvhich point street runoffvill by-pass the garden and continue on its previous path along the street gutter.
