Joint I7eeting of the Orono and P9ec�ina City Councils ,
7 : 30 P.I4.
APril 5 , 1979
The Orolio Council r�et on the above date with the
following members present: P7ayor Van Nest, Council-
mermbers Butler and Paurus. Councilr�enber I7assengale
absent. Also present: Deputy Clerk Strom. Present
fron I7edina: IZ�yor Anderson, Councilr��mber Reiser,
and I7edina City Enc�ineer Swanson.
Interested ��ersons present: PZr. Berc� and r2r. Keller,
owner oi property in iledina-I4orninc�side; 24r. Tom
Reirsgord; attorney representing several Orono
Propertl owners , and Paul Roberts , Orono Property
owner.
I7ayor Van Nest opened the meeting at 7 : 45 P .P�. to
P'IEDINA-ORONO SE�9�,R;
discuss with P9eciina, Mr. Berg' s and P4r. �eller' s
request for Orono to consider releasing to them
sorae of Orono' s sewer units to be acquired when
the Proposed P4edina-Orono sewer project is cortpleted.
Discussion ��as lzeld concerning the grant for Federal
funds that i7edina is applying for, as this is a
i7edina project and not the P�Ietropolitan Waste
Control. Federal funds pay 75% and State funds 150.
A requirerients for funds is that a �ublic health
probler.i exists.
There would be 120 new sewer units . lsayor Van iJest
stated that Orono is not trying to create r:�ore
sewer units for additional developraents but to
help solve the existing problen at rTe�?ina-r�orningside.
I�ir, Berg and t4r. �eller explained t4r. Keller' s new
developrient and the need for nore sewers to service
� the property and would like to use sor:te of Orono' s units.
Zdr. Reirsgord stated he represents several Orono
property owners who are interested in the same
sewer units for use at their property. and rec�uested
the City Council to consider Orono residents first
hefore giving ac�ditional units to t4edina residents.
