HomeMy WebLinkAboutseptic info emorandum To: Lyle Oman CC: From: Willie Gibbs,ISTS Program Coordinator Date: 8/4/2005 Re: New Thought Church septic system Lyle, after reviewing the design for the existing mound system it should safely accommodate 18 students plus staff with the house continued to be occupied. The system should be able to support 26 students plus staff with the house not occupied or disconnected from the mound and a smaller system installed just for the house. If ineals are to be prepared at the school then the numbers change as such, 15 students plus staff and 23 students plus staff respectively. If there are any additional questions, please feel free to ask. 1 1 o. o . o . CITY of ORONO . 1 r.;.. A summary of the inspection is below. Setic Tank Condition 1. Pumpout not needed at this time. The septic system is non-compliant due to a lack of a three foot sepazation distance between the bottom of the drainfield to the seasonally high watertable. The three foot requirement is a State Code, not a City , Code. A soil boring was conducted to determine the depth of the seasonally watertable. The sephc system must be replaced no later than December 31,2010. Enclosed is a list of state licensed septic contractors who work in Orono on a regular basis. Also enclosed is a fact sheet explaining how a septic system functions properly. Finally, an as-built drawing is enclosed that shows the approumate location of the septic system.
