Board of Review and Special D4eeting of the Orono 7: 30 P.M.
Council, June 2 , 1977
� The Orono Council met on the above date with
the following members present: riayor Van Nest,
Councilmembers Butler, Massengale, and Welsh.
f Councilmember Paurus absent. Also present: City
Administrator Benson and City Assessor Hawkyard.
Butler moved, Welsh seconded, to approve the BOARD OF REVIEW MINUTE
Board of Review I��inutes of May 24 , 1977. Motion,
Aye s (4) - Nays (0) .
Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review THEODORE BOER
that the current evaluation is correct and no 41860 - 1825
• change is recommended in the valuation for
Ted Boer, Plat 41860, Parcel 1825.

Appearing before the Board of Review to represent
the following three property owners was Mr. James
Brown:
Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review CURTIS CARLSON
that the current valuation is correct and no 43155 - 4500
change is recommended for Curtis Carlson, Plat
43155, Parcel 4500.

Mr. Glenn Hawkyard reconmended the valuation be EDWIN GAGE
reduced from $398, 000 to $370, 000 for Edwin 43155 - 1500
Gage, Plat 43155, Parcel 1500.
Butler moved, Welsh seconded, to reduce the
valuation from $398, 000 to $370, 000 for Edwin
Gage, Plat 43155 , Parcel 1500. Motion, Ayes (4) -

Mr. Glenn Hawkyard recommended the valuation be DR. GLEN NELSON
reduced from $337, 200 to $310 , 000 for Dr. Glen 43155 - 3000
Nelson, Plat 43155, Parcel 3000.
Massengale moved, Butler seconded, to reduce the
valuation from $337,200 to $310, 000 for Dr. Glen

Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review EDWARD CASHIN
that the current value is correct and no change 43161 - 9000
+ is recommended for Edward Cashin, Plat 43161,
Parcel 9000.
Butler moved, Welsh seconded, that there be
no change in valuation for Edward Cashin, Plat
43161, Parcel 9000. P�otion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Mr. Glenn Hawkyard recommended no change in RICHARD TIEGEN
valuation for Richard Tiegen, Plat 43240 43240 - 5600._& 5800
Parcels 5600-5800, also, the following memo
dated June 2, 1977 from Henry Muhich, Building &
Zoning Administrator, regarding vacant property
at County Road #151 and West Point Avenue, was
read into the record:
Mr. Tiegen' s vacant property here consis�s of six
adjoining, substandard lots, each containing ,
approximately 1/6 of an acre. The zoning
classification in this district is LR-1B (minimum
1 acre with minimum 140 ` lot width) .
If these lots were combined, they would qualify
as a building sit� as the combined parcel would
exceed both the minimum lot width and area. No
variances would be necessary.
When this area was sewered, the individual 1/6
acre lots were each assessed l/6 of the unit assess-
ment. This is more justification that the property
could be combined as one building site only.
My recommendation here would be combining the six
lots as one parcel and assessing the property for �
, tax purposes at a valuation similar to other
properties in the area.

no change in valuation for Richard Tiegen, Plat
43240, Parcels 5600 & 5800. Motion, Ayes (4) -

Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review LARRY JOEL
that the current valuation is correct and no 43137 - 8000
change is recommended in the valuation for
Larry Joel, Plat 43137, Plat 800�.
Massengale moved, Welsh seconded, that there be
- no change in valuation for Larry Joel, Plat
43137, Plat 8000. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .

that the current valuation is correct and no 42780 - 4610
change is recommneded in the valuation for
Texaco, Inc. , Plat 42780, Parcel 4610.
Welsh moved, Butler seconded, that there be
no change in valuation for Texaco, Inc. Plat
42780, Parcel 4610. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review MERLIN HALVERSON
that the current valuation is correct and no 42300 - 2200 & 2300
change is recommended in the valuation for
Merlin Halverson, Plat 42300, Parcels 2200 &
2300.
Butler moved, Welsh seconded, that there be no
change in valuation for Merlin Halverson,
Plat 42300, Parcels 2200 & 2300. rsotion,
Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
Mr. Glenn Hawkyard informed the Board of Review HARVEY REDER
that the current valuation is correct and no 42740 - 2060
change is recommended in the valuation for
Harvey Reder, Plat 42740, Parcel 2060.
Massengale moved, Butler seconded, that there
be no change in valuation for Harvey Reder,
Plat 42740, Parcel 2060. Motion, Ayes (4) -
Nays (0) .
Mayor Van Nest moved, Massengale seconded, that ADJOURNMENT
the Board of Review be adjourned at 8: 55 P.M. Board of Review

Butler moved, Massengale seconded, that the SPECIAL MEETING
special meeting of the Orono Council be� called
� to order. Motion, Ayes (4) - Nays (0) .
The following members of the Orono Council were
present: Mayor Van Nest, Councilmembers Butler,
Massengale, and Welsh. Councilmember Paurus absent.
Also present: City Administrator Benson.
Dick Benson, City Administrator, informed the City
Council that the official newspapers were notified
of the special Council meeting.
Butler moved, Welsh seconded, to approve as MINNEHAHA CREEK WATER-
amended the letter to David Cochran, Minnehaha SHED DISTRICT LETTER
Creek Watershed District. Motion, Ayes (4) -

Welsh moved, Butler seconded, to adopt Resolution RESOLUTION #791
