• "zn accordance with your letter of Janaary 60 1976,
I have made an on-site inspection of the subject
rcperty and have the folloaing comments and
reconunendations,
T3ie plan as submitted, entitled Drainage Plan,
?'ro}osal A, calls for the grading of a drainage
dtch on the southerly edge of Ferndale Road
-o the easto This ditcho if constructed, would
I `eel, result in the loss of several large
trees easterly of the proposed house location
s h right-of-way of Ferndale ltoad, A ditch,
_ f constructed, would necessitate the installation
of two culverts; one each under the existing
driveway and the pronosed drivewaya These
r.:>nsequences of constructing the ditch as
• p.roosed, lead me to believe that this is not
1-he proer solution to this drainage problem.

T ould recommend that the owner he directed to
+ rt.in the low area along Ferndale Road an3 his
, nc:hesterly proerty line in its natural
a:ate and to construct a flat drainage siale
► retween the two elm trees (to the west of the
~roposed house) and the westerly property lineo
'his ditch should have a bottom elevation of 933,
Under his proposal, the minimal amount of
' rater normally entering this drainage way ould
e percolated into the soil, thereby creating
no airect run-off to the lake. In the event of
'_arge rainfall, however, the saale would
allow the water which is hacked up, to overflow
:n_to the lake. If these recommendations are
ilored, the low area will function very much
S zs it does presently, in that the overflow to the
ake at present, occurs when the water reaches
"33 elevationo This occurs after the pocketing
f_ water to a depth of roughly 5 inchese Since
th c•aater would not be retained to a level higher
thn is presently the case, the adjoining property
