� Special Meeting of the Orono Council, 4 : 00 P.M.
� August 4, 1975
� The Orono Council met on the above date with
the following members present: Mayor Searles,
� Councilmembers Butler and Paurus. Council-
members Massengale and Welsh absent. Also
• present were staff inembers Benson, Scheller,
Muhich, Malkerson and Long.

� Mayor Searles noted that this special meeting
was a continuation of the special meeting which
� had taken place July 30, 1975.
•
Long reviewed the total cost of the project
• which was approximately $1, 700,000. He noted
that the oversizing for the Hackberry trunk was
� $8,000. That left a balance of approximately
� $1,692 ,000 that could be assessed. He stated
that there .:were approximately 30.56 acres in the
� project that were benefited and that the proposal
was to have an acreage assessment of $250 per
� acre. That amount equalled $7,640. By sub-
tracting $7,640 from $1, 692 ,000, there was
• a balance of $1,684, 360. Long calculated that
there would be approximately 235 units which
� would be able to hookup to the sewer system.
` At a charge of $500 per unit, the total amount
would be $117, 500. Subtracting that amount
� from $1,684,360, that would leave a balance of
$1,566, 860. The Council had previously
� considered having $100, 000 in addition to
the $8,000 above to be assessed on the general
• tax levy. That would bring the balan��e of the
amount left to be assessed to $1,466 ,860. This
� amount would constitute the amount to be
� assessed. Long noted that the total front
footage of the project is 33,017.
� Long set forth the above figures as follows:

• - 8,000 - Cost of Hackberry Hill trunk oversizing not to be assessed

7,640 - 30.56 acres X $250 per acre

- 117,500 - 235 units X $500 per hookup - hookup charged not to be assessed

- 100 ,000 - Amount to be charged against general levy
� $1,466, 860 - To be assessed against property

� There followed a general discussion concerning
the proposed assessment roll as drafted by
• the consulting City Engineer and the Clerk-
, Administrator. The Council reviewed each of
the properties listed and the amounts to be
� assessed against each property. It was noted
that this assessment roll would be available
� at the next Council meeting and that at that
time the Council may consider the passing of
� a resolution noting that the proposed assess-
ment roll would be on file with the City for
• public inspection.
� Searles moved, Butler seconded, that the ADJOURNMENT
� meeting be adjourned at 5: 30 P.M. Motion,
