� Work Session for the Orono Council, 5: 30 P.M.
., June 24, 1975
� The Orono Council met on the above date •
with the following members present: Mayor
� Searles, Councilmen Butler, Massengale,
Paurus, and Welsh. Also present: City
• Administrator Benson, Building and Zoning
Administrator Muhich, Wayne Lonq,
� Howard Shenehan, and Bruce Malkersan.
•
� Mayor Searles convened work session to discuss
with P1r. Howard Shenehan of Shenehan, Good, Lund,
� and Associates, Inc. proposed assessments for
the Sanitray Sewer Project 73-1.
•
� After discussing and comparing benefited
� areas within the present 73-1 s�nitary sewer
construction project, it was agreed that
� assessments would be levied as consistent as
possible as other sewer projects were in
� previous years and to levy the entire 73-1
improvement consisting of four individual areas
♦ as one project.
�` It was also decided to continue to collect
market data and obtain visual assessment data
from all previous sewer construction projects
`, in order to arrive at an assessed valuation
of special benefits to be derived to the
� properties involved as a result of the 73-1
sewer construction project.

� Mr. Bloomendahl, DNR Trail Coordinator, Mr. 7 : 00 P.M.
� Arnie Stefferold and Tim Sullivan, DNR trail
assistants, were present to discuss with the
� City Council and staff the proposed rules and
regulations for the Luce Line Trail.

Mr. Bloomendahl states that:

• l. Vicksburg Lane in Plymouth west to the
Orono Stubb' s Bay Road is proposed for NO
� snowr.iobiling. �
� 2. Curfew will be determined as consistent
as possible with all participating communities.

3. Parking lots at Gleason Lake in Plymouth,
� #19 , Stubb' s Bay Road, and Willow Drive in
� Orono are being considered.

It was emphasized by Mayor Searles and hy
� members of the City Council that Orono
objected to the use of the Luce Line Trail
� east of the Stubb' s Bay Road for any use other
• than non-motorized bikeways and hikeways. It
was also noted that the City of Orono had not
� received official notice of any public hearings
concerning adoption of the proposed Rules and
� Regulations to be adopted by the DNR now or
in the future.
�
Discussion was also held concerning the Orono
� Orchard bridge in reference to the DNR Trail.
� Mr. Arnie Stefferold presented proposed plans
� which were not the modified updated bridge
plans that the DNR had proposed December 10,
� 1974 and approved by the City Council in which
the DPdR at that time, had agreed to widen the
� clear span to 34 feet, including the west ber�t
to improve sight distance as a safety precaution
• at a grojected cost of $0. 00 which was to
� be completed in 1976. The DNR and City Engineers
will review the matter for a future agenda.
� The meeting was closed at 7: 25 P.M.
